The Profilo brand (translated from Italian as “profile”) was founded in 2015 by Andrew Vianello. His real name – Andrea – had to be slightly changed to avoid confusion with the namesake – the famous Italian TV presenter. Inspired by his love for photography, architecture, fashion and contemporary design, he created a new artistic language, a kind of three-dimensional graphics.
In a small family workshop, Andrew, his cousin, and several other Italian and French artists first created objects from black metal wire – the silhouettes of dogs and cats of different breeds. The hand-bent 30 cm profiles on a light beech cube base are reminiscent of graphics or ink drawings. Over time, the assortment of the collection grew – it included outlines of famous historical figures, horses, elephants, flamingos, fish, bicycles, and even a three-dimensional installation in the form of a palm tree and a banana.
Andrew worked a lot with individual orders, created profiles from photographs. Today, anyone can send a photo of a loved one, pet, or important event to Profilo and receive extraordinary art objects, which the author himself calls “frozen moments,” as a keepsake.
Attention to details, desire to share a part of one’s soul is expressed not only in sculptures, but also in packaging, which is produced at a small manufactory from expensive paper of different weights and textures. As a bonus, a sheet of poems is included in each box. It is not surprising that Andrew’s installations are of public interest – they are extraordinary, concise, not only decorate the interior, but live in it, creating a play of light and shadow. Portraits made by Andrew Vianello are owned by Madonna and Tom Ford, an elegant shoe is displayed in the window of the Italian shoemaker Rene Caovilla in Venice, and the silhouette of Le Bon Marché is in Paris.
During the year of our cooperation, Profilo expanded the color range of wire and coasters – gold, bronze, silver and color options appeared in it, as well as compositions with miniature portraits in glass cloches.
